Marcos’ home

The Project Story

Marcus’s home in Kentish Town, London, had a beautiful traditional feel, but the original doors and windows were no longer doing the property any favours. The frames looked tired, the glazing wasn’t performing well, and the house often felt colder and darker than it should. Marcus wanted an upgrade that would modernise the look of the home while also improving comfort, insulation, and everyday practicality — without losing the character of the property.

The main aim of this project was to replace the outdated joinery with a clean, contemporary door-and-window package that would let in more natural light, improve energy efficiency, and give the home a sharper, more premium finish from both inside and out.

What We Had to Solve

The existing windows were dated and inefficient, which meant heat loss in winter, draughts around the frames, and condensation issues during colder months. The proportions also made the interior feel enclosed, especially in key living areas where Marcus wanted a brighter and more open atmosphere. On top of that, the front and rear doors didn’t offer the level of security and thermal performance expected in a modern London home, and the overall exterior appearance lacked the crisp lines Marcus was aiming for.

The challenge was finding a solution that felt modern and minimal, but still suited a London residential street like Kentish Town — with durable materials, slim profiles, and high-performance glazing.

How We Delivered

For the window upgrade, we specified modern aluminium-framed windows with slim sightlines to maximise daylight and give the property a cleaner architectural look. Aluminium was the ideal choice for this home because it offers excellent strength and stability, allowing larger glazed areas without bulky frames. To improve thermal performance, we installed high-performance double glazing, designed to reduce heat loss and improve indoor comfort throughout the year.

For the main access points, we installed a new set of contemporary composite doors for a strong, secure, and low-maintenance finish. Composite doors were selected because they combine a premium appearance with excellent insulation and durability, making them perfect for busy households and long-term performance. For areas where Marcus wanted more openness and connection to the garden, we introduced large glazed door panels that brought in significantly more natural light while maintaining strong security and weather resistance.

Every unit was carefully measured and fitted to ensure clean lines, smooth operation, and a refined finish. We also focused on sealing and detailing, ensuring the new installations improved draught resistance and reduced unwanted noise — a key factor for homes in London.

The Final Result

Once the doors and windows were installed, Marcus’s home immediately felt more modern, brighter, and far more comfortable. The slim aluminium frames and larger glazing areas transformed the look of the property, giving it a contemporary edge without feeling out of place in Kentish Town. Indoors, the upgrade made the rooms feel lighter and more open, while the improved double glazing helped create a quieter, warmer environment.

Most importantly, Marcus ended up with a door-and-window solution that wasn’t just visually impressive, but also practical: stronger security, better insulation, and a long-lasting finish that will perform beautifully for years to come.
