Cadan and Lucy’s coastal home

The Project Story

This coastal home belongs to Cadan and Lucy, set in a seaside location in Whitstable, Kent — a well-loved coastal town not far from London. The brief was to elevate the property into a bright, elegant retreat that feels open to the sea air and natural views, while still offering comfort, warmth and strong performance all year round.

As Coastal Living magazine states, the clients and Monolux Windoor “turned this architectural crazy quilt into a coastal stunner. Every area, from the gourmet kitchen to the infinity-edge pool to the grand Master Bedroom, was designed to excellence.”

For this project, the doors and windows were central to the transformation, helping the home feel cohesive, refined and truly connected to its surroundings.

For the main entrance, we installed a statement front door in a deep heritage red finish, designed to complement the warm timber-style cladding and the traditional character of the home. The door features glazed panels at the top, allowing natural light to filter into the hallway while maintaining privacy and security. With its classic proportions and solid construction, the new entrance creates a welcoming first impression and adds a strong focal point to the façade, tying together the home’s elegant detailing and woodland setting.

What We Had to Solve

Over time, the property had grown through a mix of additions, which left the overall structure feeling visually disconnected. The challenge was not only to create a more unified look but also to maximise natural light and make the most of the coastal setting. In a seaside environment, glazing needs to do more than look good — it must handle wind exposure, temperature changes and moisture in the air while keeping interiors calm and comfortable. Cadan and Lucy also wanted to frame views and improve the flow between indoor living spaces and outdoor areas without heavy, outdated frames interrupting the architecture.

How We Delivered

We introduced a coordinated door and window package with a clean, timeless finish, focusing on large glazed openings that bring daylight deep into the home and highlight the coastal views. The main elevations were upgraded with high-performance double glazing, paired with crisp white-framed windows to suit the classic coastal character and keep the look bright both inside and out.

To enhance indoor–outdoor living, we installed wide-opening glazed doors that allow fresh air and natural light to transform the atmosphere instantly, while still closing down securely when needed. Feature windows were carefully shaped and positioned to add architectural interest — including elegant arched forms that soften the façade and complement the home’s coastal style. Throughout the home, the glazing specification was selected to improve insulation, reduce draughts, and provide smooth everyday operation, creating a space that feels just as comfortable in winter as it does on sunny summer days.

The Final Result

The final result is a coastal home that feels lighter, more connected and far more refined. With the upgraded doors and windows in place, Cadan and Lucy now enjoy clear sightlines, brighter interiors and a stronger relationship between the living spaces and the outdoors. The crisp frames, generous glazing and carefully chosen window shapes bring unity to the architecture, turning the property into a true seaside statement — modern in performance but warm and timeless in character.
