Nolan’s Family

The Project Story

The Nolan family wanted their home to feel brighter, calmer and more connected to the surrounding greenery. Set in a peaceful, wooded location near London, the property already had a strong character — classic proportions, traditional detailing and a timeless façade. The focus of this project was not to modernise the house aggressively but to enhance it through a carefully selected package of doors and windows that would suit the architecture and elevate the overall look and comfort.

What We Had to Solve

The challenge was keeping the home’s traditional identity while improving everyday performance. The Nolan home needed glazing that would feel elegant rather than contemporary, with shapes and profiles that matched the existing style. Large openings were essential to bring in more natural light and views of the trees, but the design couldn’t look too sharp or minimal. We also had to introduce a door system that would feel welcoming and refined, while still providing strong security and smooth operation for daily use.

How We Delivered

For this project, we selected a more classic finish and detailing, using white-framed windows with traditional proportions to keep the exterior clean and timeless. A key feature was the beautiful curved (arched) window, which adds softness and architectural interest while framing the outdoor views in a more elegant way than a standard rectangular opening. To connect interior spaces to the garden areas, we installed French doors with glazed panels, creating a bright transition point and allowing the home to open up naturally during warmer months.

The window design across the home uses a more traditional grid style, helping the house keep its heritage feel while still benefiting from upgraded glazing performance. In the rear living spaces, tall glazed openings allow daylight to fill the room and highlight the natural surroundings, creating a relaxed atmosphere that suits a woodland setting.

The Final Result

The finished result feels classic, bright and beautifully balanced. The Nolan family now has doors and windows that match the home’s traditional character, while bringing in more light and strengthening the connection to the landscape outside. The curved feature window and the French doors give the property a refined, distinctive look — elegant rather than overly modern — making the home feel welcoming, timeless and perfectly suited to its leafy location near London.
